Nice to see this one back in print! I feel like a few years ago whenever anyone would bring up the jangly groups on Flying Nun, someone would inevitably reply 'But have you listened to The Gordons??' Morphing out of The Gordons in the late 1980s, Bailter Space provided a droning, darker alternative to the Flying Nun crowd.
Their last album for Matador, Wammo marries the 60s throwback jangle so readily associated with Flying Nun acts of the period (ie. The Clean) while also drawing out the psychedelic undertones of shoegaze, the poppier back-of-the-beat motorik cruise of 90s Sonic Youth, and a decent serving of pop hooks!
