Some of the music that I’ve found most engaging and interesting in the last two years seems to rest in this strange point between song, ambient textural experimentation, and dub techniques. And this latest comp from Amsterdam’s Knekelhuis Records hits that spot!
I was initially drawn to this compbecause it featured store favourites Troth and the Swedish underground group Treasury of Puppies, and was intrigued as to how they sit amongst an international crew I knew next to nothing about. Like those two artists, the electronic musicians, composers, field recorders, and producers who are collected here dabble around the edges of song in ways that nod to the avant/experimental but remains ‘listenable’.
