Lou Turner - Microcosmos LP

For those (like myself) hanging out for more Styrofoam Winos after their fantastic 2021 LP on Sophomore Lounge, band member Lou Turner’s latest solo album (backed by members of the group too), fills the void!

Lushly produced singer-songwriter tracks with a country tinge that remind me of the kind of backing given to classic-era Townes Van Zandt: sparse but beautifully arranged guitar lines, double bass, and occasional wild card instrument that go a long way to accentuate and centre the lyrics. Also features a fantastic cover of my favourite Simon Joyner track!
