Kissland / キッスランド - Kissland / キッスランド 7"

Every decade or so a band comes out of the sovereign state of Victoria that comprises individuals with such an impressive track record (in this case members of Eddy Current Suppression Ring, Swab, The Faculty, Faceless Burial, Ill Globo, Internal Rot, Total Control, Green Child, but also influential on fashion, fitness, wellness, the “culture” in general), you just HAVE to take notice.

Influencer credentials aside, what da heck do they sound like? While it’s not the punk-aligned-grind or “powerviolence” you might associate with the 625 Thrashcore record company, it is very fast!!! It’s also jam packed with a certain hookiness, interesting changes and a sense of unhinged fun!

I don’t know any of the Japanese bands in their self written “For Fans Of” bio from this year’s Nag Nag Nah festival, and frankly I’m happy to have Kissland exist in my library as a happy little Island where I’m ignorant to their musical agenda. It’s an island somewhere near Obat Batuk (Newcastle) and The Comes (my basic bitch Japanese reference). Refreshing and invigorating! - Nic
