Local jangle-prog/pop of the highest order!
It’s been a real adventure seeing Sachet develop on stage and record. While the spirit of the band remains (jangly indie-rock in the most positive light of the term) there’s a new found complexity and ambition. Thankfully this complexity serves the purpose of interesting melodies, considered songwriting and energy, opposed to macho/mathematical showboating. I know “indie-rock” is a dirty term of corporate coercion and college rock copycats but at its best it can be where the electric folk of Fairport Convention meets the Pylon’s boppy post-punk, and that idea certainly applies here. Could be Athens, GA or Dunedin circa 1983 or Sydney’s St. George region right now! -Nic
