Great to see this essential comp in print on vinyl! Compiled by Guy Blackman back in 2012, Strong Love documents the first wave of openly gay songwriting that emerged in and around the Gay Liberation movement of the 1970s.
The comp runs a gamut of genres from the synth rock of Smokey, to the folk of Steven Grossman and Michael Cohen, the outsider country of Lavender Country, the 70s rock of Everyone Involved and Charlie Murphy, power pop of Chris Robison, the soul-funk of Buena Vista and International Gay Society but with each track approaching the personal from a community-minded perspective.
