Lès Modernos - Ciutats LP

As an album ‘Ciutats’ functions like a Chanson sound collage. It’s in the tradition of progressive vocalists like Franco Battiato, Scott Walker, Caetano Veloso, Brigitte Fontaine but instead of a bespoke and tailored existence, Lès Modernos are accepting of their green Toyota Corolla reality.

Car stereo samples, field recordings, consumer grade electronics and savvy editing replace session musicians and room-size tape and synth suites. There’s moves I’d associate with Aaron Dilloway, Jason Lescaleet and Terrine presented here as bite-sized songs with a sense of mystery and cool. - Nic
