The enigma of modern music that is Mikey Young (of Eddy Current Suppression Ring, Total Control, and mastering engineer on the back of every second album fame) returns to the curator realm with the latest compilation on Efficient Space (and in my opinion their best since Sky Girl).
Here Mikey takes us out with the kickers and the cowboy angels, the CSNY-heads, Byrds fanboys, the earnest folkies, the could-have-been contemporaries to Arthur Russell’s song-focused days, the tapers of a haunting songs, and the writers of sweet melodies and harmonies.
As always with these Efficient Space comps, it’s not only about the unearthing of these songs and the cult of the curators behind them, but the incredibly intricate detective work that goes on by others behind the scenes in to tracking down the forgotten and lost to history and properly licensing their work!
