A treasure trove of scattered recordings from 2020 to the present. This collection, Hot Tubs Time Machine’s third album, is held together by a more minimal treatment sonically than past ventures. The majority of tracks have been stripped back to the bare essentials.

Almost all of the music is recorded at home or makeshift studios by Daniel Twomey, this time playing an enormous number of instruments: clarinet, electronic kits, live drums, bass, synth, guitar, etc. the list goes on. Marcus Rechsteiner returns with his signature observational humour but hits some serious subjects on this album too. Notably on album closer Marcus’ Brain in which he reflects on the challenges of growing up with a non-verbal learning disorder.

The album is littered with guest appearances including:
Simon O’Connor (MGMT, Modest Mouse) playing guitar on Slippery Slope and Contact High
Mikey Young (ECSR, Total Control) guitar on Respect The Mixer
Jesse Twomey - Daniel’s twin brother (The Monkey KIng) phin on Goat Soup, Liquid Gold
Haruka Sato (Zipper) keytar on Door Spot and Deja Vu

With homages to Australian fashion label Wah Wah and outback enigma Button Man, diddies about the KL culinary landscape and the fact that Dandenong is not in the Dandenongs, a lonely man’s take on the classic Love Is In The Air, musings on the what the future will look like and an angry letter about the crimes of colonisation titled Dear British Museum, this album is a kaleidoscope of modern life seen through the eyes of a unique mind.
