Critical Energy - Critical Energy 7"

Critical Energy is a new musical project from Wireheads alumni Dom Trimboli and Liam Kenny. The group was conceived as a long distance collaboration between the band mates, building on their mutual love of lo-fi, punk, and left-field pop. Joined by a rotating cast of supporting members, the duo funnel these influences into a uniquely wonky brand of DIY rock and roll.

The band's debut release was self-recorded to 4-track tape in Mulubinba/Newcastle, NSW during an extended weekend session in March 2023. Opening track The Big Jets is an explosive pop medley featuring slippery riffs and a see-sawing vocal melody with cryptic lyrics referencing catamarans, pink camellias and some sort of existential gambling. Following on is Dolphins: a glam-punk rocker combining pop hooks and evocative stream of consciousness vocals over spiky guitars and synth freakouts.
