Hayden Moon - Death Of A Miner's Cottage CS

Following his warmly-received debut, A Creek Cut Through Me, earlier in 2023 Newcastle’s Hayden Moon returns to Altered States Tapes for a subtle, yet impactful follow-up EP. 

More concise even than 'Creek, Death Of A Miner's Cottage sees Moon refine his palette into works of intricate ambience. At face value, less immediately 'organic' than 'Creek, but no less emotionally resonant. There are some subtle elements of rhythm present at times in DOAMC not found in his earlier pieces, but they don’t detract from the immersive setting created overall. 
At times it feels like Moon captures (or, at the very least, alludes to) something bigger than himself, a feeling I rarely find in a lot of contemp ambients.

Across these four tracks, Moon is able to assemble a dense ecosystem of sound, but it is done so deftly that you don’t immediately realise its depth until you’re standing at its peak.
