Thanks to the 3 homeless guys that asked me this week how business was going. They probably think i'm gonna be joining them soon. "Dude, no one buys cd's anymore. I once had the biggest cassette shop in Sydney ". Don't forget our in-store on Sunday the 9th november at 2pm, featuring the almighty Captain Cleanoff, Kill a Celebrity and Roadside Burial, a sweet counterpoint to the Coldplay/ Spearhead loving shenanigans that will be going on at the Newtown Festival that day. Volume, swear words (but not too many i hope), offensive t-shirts, double kicks and enough energy to drill a hole straight through to China. Plus on Saturday 13th we have Straightjacket Nation and Repo Man. We are the home to the angriest people in the inner west, myself included. Plus Sunday the 23rd November , we have a night show (ie 6pm) with circuit bending electro doom one man band Dracopede, plus Camoo, Onani and other assorted social misfits. Onani features Nic who works here, so if you hate him, here's your chance to throw stuff. You'll have to queue up behind me if he has a slow Saturday though.
3 people asked me if we Re-press records this week, but they were kinda middle aged and into Hermans Hermits, so it doesn't really count. Does it? My dad had them on reel to reel, and I taped over them when I was a kid with cricket commentary of me vs my friend in the driveway. Anyway, on with the show..
Metal guys! i'll put you first this time .. Are you partial to an inverted crucifix or 2, black robes, corpse paint and the forest at night?? Well we got a stack of black metal in for $14.95, most of them bands beginning with the words Black, Blood or Thy, full of raw hostility, dodgy political views and buzzsaw guitars. Dodgy political views I can live with, as long as it's not the new Metallica album. 1349 rule, but I get a bit tired after 3 songs. No one ever buys Dodheimsgard "Supervillain Outcast".. It's excellent industrialish black metal avante-gard weirdness and i've been trying to sell the last copy for a year or so. Did you see Carcass? I thought they were awesome, but then I sat through Jon Stevens at the NRL grand final the week before. He sang Take Me Back to celebrate 100 years of Rugby league. That's what i love about footy. It's so literal.
Why doesn't anyone buy Terrorizer? it's a grind/ death metal classic featuring members of Morbid Angel and Napalm Death. Get your act together. Also just in are the mighty Morbid Angel "Blessed Are The Sick", Napalm Death "Scum" CD and DVD, Entombed "Clandestine" CD and DVD..

A new box of imports in, and they're cheap as. $14.95 will get you Brian Eno, Captain Beefheart "Doc At The Radar Station", The Cramps "off The Bone", "Psychedelic Jungle" and "Songs The Lord Taught Us", Syd Barrett "Opel" and "Barrett", Killing Joke's debut, Buzzcocks "Singles Going Steady", The Band "Music From Big Pink", Roxy Music "Country Life" and "For Your Pleasure", and $21.95 will get you Suicide with the bonus live cd. I really like Low by David Bowie. It sounds like a depressed dude strung out on Cocaine doing the soundtrack to A Clockwork Orange. It's only $14.95. We recommend.
New releases: Eagles Of Death Metal's latest is $19.95, Bob Dylan "Tell Tale Signs" 2 cd version is $23.95, The Clash Live At Shea Stadium is $19.95, Belles Will Ring is $15.95, Lou Reed Live at St Ann's Warehouse is $25.95. This album is a live version version of Berlin.. More of the GG Allin Hated In The Nation DVD are in
We just got in the biggest lot of punk you will ever see. It was heavy and a lot of work to pick up, so you better buy it. On vinyl we have Mindsnare, Dead Boys, Infest, One Inch Punch, Pisschrist, Extortion, Nerve Agents, Earth Crisis, DRI, DYS, Supersuckers, Thought Criminals.. loads and loads of 7" and cd's, including out of circulation stuff like Toe To Toe, Powdermonkeys, Bored and Splatterheads. We have so much and so little space for it out the back, we'll have PUNK JUNK SALE the day of the Captain Cleanoff in-store. CD's and 7" from $2, patches, stickers and old zines $1. Loads of zines and stickers.
We also have newies in from Straightjacket Nation, more Cut Sick and UV Race and Vicious Circle and Civil Dissident on vinyl/.
Remember. Loads of work, easily disenchanted boss who lugs this stuff everywhere. .

We may be angry volume loving pigs, but we have another circumspect side too you know. One that thought that 1 song by Augie March a couple of years ago was sorta ok for a couple of weeks, is thinking of seeing a 280 year old Leonard Cohen at the Sydney Ent Cent and likes early Roxy Music. I forgot my point, but i'm just letting you know my yin-yang is fully balanced.. Oh that's right, we have some quiet music.. Talk Talk, the new Dungen, Belles Will Ring, Because Of Ghosts and other quiet people. Scott Walker, Soft Machine, Lee Hazlewood included.
I used to hate Creedence when I was young. I thought they looked about 50 years old when they were probably 19. Then whilst on acid in London, someone played me Fortunate Son and I thought it was the best song i'd ever heard in my life, and it's still one of my all time faves. You could visualise the sparks flying off John Fogerty's tonsils. We have their albums in re-mastered for $19.95. including Willy and The Poor Boys with my fave tacked on as a bonus track. We also have Kings of Leon if you want a diluted version.
Has anyone else noticed how much these electro bands sound like the Squeeze without the actual songs? MGMT, Presets etc??
Clockcleaner, Pig Heart Transplant, Tar Babies, Pineapples From The Dawn Of Time, Faust, Popolice, Chumps, D.R Hooker, Avskum? No, I havent re-discovered a long lost indigenous language, these are bands we got in that we assumed someone, somewhere may be after. Clockcleaner are touring and playing Marrickville very soon.. If you love your Beats of Bourbon, Birthday Party etc, check em out.
